Housing Coach

Purpose:
To strengthen NMCAA communities by empowering people to
improve the quality of their lives through client advocacy,
casework and education as well as Financial Management
Services public relations.
Summary of job description:
The program provides comprehensive housing counseling
services which include housing workshops in the areas of pre
purchase, financial education, foreclosure, and post purchase
education. The Housing Coach must be able to perform one- onone counseling sessions in pre purchase, post purchase,
mortgage default and delinquency, rental counseling, and
financial management coaching.
Responsibilities and duties:
Conduct successful interviews with potential homeowners,
renters, post purchase and mortgage default customers to
establish needs and devise a case management strategy.
Provide accurate, relevant, and helpful information to assist
customers in developing solutions in money management,
credit related and housing issues in a one-on-one consultation.
Explore possible options with the customer through a financial
review and monthly budget.
Assist potential home buyers prepare for buying a home and
provide guidance regarding the mortgage process.
Aid homeowners at risk of foreclosure to submit loss mitigation
packages and negotiate repayment options as necessary on
behalf of the customer.
Teach workshops in pre purchase education and financial
management.
Maintain customer records according to HUD guidelines,
compile files, create case notes, conduct file audits, and
maintain data and interaction adhering to strict privacy
guidelines.
Responsible for promoting good public relations through public
speaking to promote NMCAA’s services.
Must participate in staff meetings and training and be willing to
work as a team member.
Minimum education :
BA in human service field or equivalent. Must be HUD certified
or be HUD certified in counseling within 90 days or less.
Minimum experience:
Experience working with low income or at-risk individuals with
financial issues, or home ownership counseling and education.
Minimum skills required:
Experience working with low income or at-risk individuals,
Previous experience working for a nonprofit organization,
social service entity, financial/ mortgage institution, or in
education.
Must be able to utilize excellent communication skills in
individual or group settings, be self-motivated and able to
multitask. Must be able to work independently or in a team
setting.
Strong computer skills and knowledge a must. Experience
with zoom, PowerPoint, excel, adobe and other computer
systems preferred.
Should be organized and detail oriented.
Must maintain strict code of privacy and confidentiality.
Have a commitment and understanding of NMCAA's
mission.
Rate of pay: 40 hour week, 52 weeks per year, $21.50 per
hour. EOE
