Job Title: Classroom Aide 2
Supervisory Responsibility: Reports to Teacher
Duties/Responsibilities:
Provide individualized care for the children that are in need of extra support.
Ensure compliance with Performance Standards, Head Start Act, 5-year grant, MiLEAP Child Care Licensing Bureau, GSRP, and NMCAA personnel policies.
Help create a developmentally appropriate classroom environment using Creative Curriculum and School Readiness goals.
Establish clear behavioral expectations and help the children be successful using Conscious Discipline and the classroom support Protocol.
Utilize Teaching Strategies GOLD data, team input, and parent feedback for lesson planning and Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Follow NMCAA Guidance Policy and code of conduct.
Follow Mandated Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting procedures.
Follow Universal Precautions, Handwashing, and disinfecting guidelines.
Plan and implement transition activities for children and families.
Collaborate with families to build trust and develop School Readiness goals.
Encourage family involvement and educate families on developmentally appropriate expectations. Follow United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) and Head Start Nutrition guidelines.
Sit with children during mealtimes, share the menu, and engage in conversation using the Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS) tool.
Follow mental health plans developed by professionals for children and families.
Attend IEP meetings to advocate for children and families when asked by lead teachers.
Assist in creating and implementing Individualized Action Plans (IAPs) based on IEPs and assessments. Ensure IEP goals are integrated into daily activities.
Use basic computer skills, internet access, web-based software, and office equipment for task management.
Follow checklists and timelines for tasks and collaborate on lesson planning.
Maintain an up-to-date Employee Center File with all required health and training certifications. Participate in professional development opportunities.
Adapt to flexible work schedules as needed.
Use feedback to improve performance and implement new ideas.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Licensing and Other Requirements:
Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance is required. Reliable transportation is essential for job functions.
Pass a comprehensive background check - CCLB.
Must be at least 18 years old.
Meet OHS health requirements, medical clearance, and TB Screener. Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification.
