Housing Intake Specialist

Job Summary:

The Intake Specialist will work in partnership with the Northwest Michigan Coalition to End

Homelessness and the Balance of State Coalition to provide call center support to those who are

homeless or who are at-risk of becoming homeless gain connection to the Homeless Response

System.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Provide intake and assessment for region 2, across our 10-county service area through Intake serviceseither through scheduled appointments or through the call center. 

Provide an intake and an assessment to programs (shelter or outreach) or provide outside referrals toother applicable resources. Calls taken through the call center are to be returned within 24 hours.

Enter all necessary data into HMIS (Homeless Management Information System) or appropriate portalsfor data and tracking purposes

Network with area shelters, human service providers, Interagency Service Teams and other agencies tocreate a strong Coordinated Access into the Homeless Response System

Complete/assist clients with the HCV (Housing Choice Voucher) enrollment/applications, whenpossible, over the phone or in person when needed. 

Complete in person Central Intakes when barriers prevent a phone intake

Complete the appropriate assessment tool for individuals and families who are experiencing literalhomelessness throughout the 10-county region.
