Job Title: Meal Transporter Substitute

Supervisory Responsibility: Reports to Meals on Wheels Coordinator or Volunteer Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Meal Transporter delivers meals to Meals on Wheels clients and congregate sites, ensuring proper food temperatures and special diet needs. They provide brief companionship, safety checks, and report any client concerns. Responsibilities include maintaining delivery records, collecting donations, and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards. The transporter must attend required trainings and report any issues to the office.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Pick up and deliver hot, cold, and frozen meals to home-delivered clients, ensuring special diets are correctly provided. Coordinate with the meal preparer or site manager to confirm meal quantities and delivery times. Return all delivery equipment immediately.
If applicable, deliver bulk meals to congregate locations, serving as a liaison and reporting any issues that arise.
Pack vehicle efficiently, using ice packs or heat sources to maintain proper temperatures. Report any temperature issues to the office immediately.
Monitor meal temperatures for Home Delivered Meals (HDM) route monthly.
Maintain accurate records of time, mileage, and meal deliveries, noting any changes (e.g., route discrepancies, no-shows, extra meals) and submit paperwork to the office daily.
Visit home-delivered clients, providing brief companionship and safety checks. Treat clients with respect, listen to their concerns, and be empathetic. Encourage the meal recipient and assist with opening meals if needed. Carry emergency contact information for all clients and report any health changes or concerns to the office.
Collect and deliver any donations or project income from congregate locations to the office as needed.
Be available for assigned deliveries unless alternate arrangements are made with the supervisor. Attend required trainings and perform additional duties as assigned.
Provide meal delivery, companionship, and safety checks for Meals on Wheels clients and congregate locations, ensuring positive client interaction.
Ensure compliance with all safety and sanitation requirements.
