Tax Coordinator Assistant, Seasonal

Purpose:

To support free tax preparation service for the underserved in NMCAA's communities by assisting the lead Tax Coordinator in the seasonal volunteer tax preparation program, leading Northwest Michigan Tax Coalition, and helping promote Earned Income Tax, Home Heating, and Property Tax credits for low to moderate income customers.

Position appointment December- April, 40hrs/week

Essential functions:

  • Manage daily TaxSlayer e-filing reports to ensure timely tax return progress and e-filing
  • Oversee and ensure efficient drop-off tax return preparation process
  • Spearhead Volunteer recruitment and training
  • Coordinate daily site logistics of all tax sites, with emphasize on high-volume Traverse City and Cadillac tax sites
  • Create and upkeep scheduling system for in-office appointments, coordinate with volunteers on their personal schedules for in office appointments
  • Plan and execute tax special events off-site in junction with Tax Coordinator
  • Set up tax program sites including computer hardware and software

Position Objectives:

  • Supervision and Coordination of tax preparation
  • Work with Tax Program Staff to provide efficient and friendly service in seasonal tax preparation program.
  • To represent NMCAA in a professional, supportive, and knowledgeable manner.

Measured by:

  • Annual performance reviews
  • Annual ROMA reports
  • Ongoing assessment

Minimum Education:

  • BS/BA or equivalent work experience.

Minimum Experience:

  • 1-3 years' previous experience in team management preferred.

Minimum Environmental Expectations:

The Assistant Tax Coordinator operates in an office setting. This position routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines. Occasional travel between tax sites is required.
