NMCAA Preschool Lincoln Street 3 - Assistant Teacher 


Duties/Responsibilities: Promote school readiness by enhancing children's social, cognitive, and overall development through educational, health, nutritional, and social services. 

Comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, 5-Year Grant, MiLeap-Child Care Licensing Bureau, USDA-CACFP Requirements, Great Start Readiness Implementation Manual, NMCAA Personnel Policies, and other relevant guidelines.

Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance. 

Adhere to the Child Protection Law, Staff and Volunteer Mandated Reporting Policy, NMCAA's Early Childhood Guidance Policy and Code of Conduct. 

Provide a developmentally appropriate classroom environment using Creative Curriculum, School Readiness Goals, and Classroom Assessment Scoring System (CLASS), and conduct childdevelopmental screenings and GOLD assessments. 

Utilize data from GOLD assessments, team input, and parent feedback for lesson planning and Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and address behavioral challenges using Conscious Discipline and a Classroom Support Plan. 

Be present during core hours with children and adapt to flexible schedules to meet family and team needs. 

Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized environment.  

Implement emergency procedures. 

Utilize Active Supervision practices. Follow policies on health care needs, food allergies, medication administration,and authorized adult releases.

Report incidents and accidents as required. 

Support transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus. Participate in meal preparation and clean-up. 

Assist with family orientations as needed. 

Support the teacher in engaging families by providing home visits and parent/teacher conferences as assigned. Attend family engagement activities as assigned. 

Maintain accurate records for attendance, meals, transportation, and budgets. 

Participate in professional development to meet annual requirements. 

Utilize platforms used by NMCAA programs such as Podio, E-3, MiRegistry, GOLD, SharePoint, etc. Support all NMCAA classrooms by subbing if needed. 

Complete required duties as assigned by the supervisor.


TeacherEducation and Experience:

Have a child development associate (CDA) credential or a state-awarded certificate that meets or exceeds the requirements for a CDA credential, are enrolled in a program that will lead to an associate or baccalaureate degree in ECE or CD; or, are enrolled in a CDA credential program to be completed within two years of the time of hire.

Travel Requirements: Travel within the 10 county region to attend meetings/trainings, meet with clients and community partners, shopping for site needs, pick up meals/snacks, and subbing at other sites as needed. Reliable transportation is essential for job functions. Licensing and Other Requirements: Valid driver's license and proof of vehicle insurance is required.

Pass a comprehensive background check-CCLB. Must be at least 18 years old.

Meet OHS health requirements-Medical Clearance and TB Screener. Obtain CPR/First Aid Certification. 

Work Hours :Exact hours will be discussed during the hiring process. Hours will be scheduled during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 7:30am-4:30pm. Flexibility is required.
