Behavior Specialist

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Ability to work cooperatively with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Competence in assessing children's behavioral needs and designing appropriate instructional

      strategies.

  • Foster a positive public image of programs by cooperating with colleagues and administration.
  • Knowledge and training in trauma-informed care.
  • Leadership experience in a school or center setting.
  • Proficiency in web-based platforms, video uploading, Zoom, and SWIVL.
  • Ensure developmentally appropriate classroom environments using Creative Curriculum, School
  • Readiness goals, Conscious Discipline, CLASS, PQA, and Early Learning Outcomes Framework.
  • Adhere to NMCAA Early Childhood Guidance Policy and Child Development Programs Code of

      Conduct.

  • Follow mandated child abuse and neglect reporting procedures.
  • Conduct child observations and use e-DECA with teachers and parents to assess needs and apply

       recommendations.

  • Conduct home visits for parenting education and collaboration between home and school

      environments.

  • Provide monthly staff trainings on trauma-informed care and parent education workshops.
  • Collaborate with Education Coaches and teachers to document children's next steps in ChildPlus.
  • Maintain and update work calendar in Outlook weekly.
  • Attend Education Coach meetings and meet regularly with the Education Coach Manager.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of office equipment, web-based software, and email.
  • Provide timely and detailed reports with next steps shared within 5 days of observations.
  • Maintain professional and personal confidentiality.
  • Use payroll system to meet employment requirements.
  • Report to LARA within 3 business days if arrested or convicted of any crimes as specified by Michigan

Education and Experience:

 * BA/BS in early childhood education or a related field.
 * Master’s degree in early childhood education or related field preferred.
 * Experience working with preschool-aged children and mentoring teachers.
 * Experience in a team environment.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
Ability to lift objects weighing 50 lbs. or more.
Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, climbing, kneeling, and twisting.
