Classroom Aide

  • Duties/Responsibilities: Promote school readiness by enhancing children's social, cognitive, and overall development througheducational, health, nutritional, and social services.
  • Comply with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Head Start Act, 5-Year Grant, MiLeap-Child Care Licensing Bureau, USDA-CACFP Requirements, Great Start Readiness ImplementationManual, NMCAA Personnel Policies, and other relevant guidelines.
  • Follow agency processes, policies, procedures, and guidance. Adhere to the Child Protection Law, Staff and Volunteer Mandated Reporting Policy, NMCAA's EarlyChildhood Guidance Policy and Code of Conduct. Support a developmentally appropriate classroom environment.
  • Maintain accurate records including food service inventory and procurement forms. Build relationships with school and food service personnel.
  • Ensure a safe, healthy, and organized environment. Implement emergency procedures. Utilize ActiveSupervision practices. Follow policies on health care needs, food allergies, medication administration,and authorized adult releases.
  • Report incidents and accidents as required.
  • Assist in maintaining a child friendly environment and collaborate with staff to support day to dayoperations.
  • Support transportation efforts and may be required to ride the bus. P
  • articipate with food service operations, including shopping for groceries, food transport, preparationfor family style meals in the classrooms, and clean-up as necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records for attendance, meals, transportation, and budgets.

Education and Experience:

High School Diploma or GED.
